Avi Furstenberg – Accredited Criminal Law Specialist

Avi is a criminal defence lawyer in Melbourne who obtained his qualifications at Monash University. He is an LIV Accredited Criminal Law Specialist. He was a partner at a Melbourne CBD firm where he spent 15 years learning and perfecting his craft from one of the most experienced solicitors in Melbourne. He served on the executive of the Criminal Law section of the Law Institute of Victoria for 11 years.
Avi has acted and appeared for clients in some of the most serious and complex cases in Australia. He has also represented clients at various Royal Commissions in Melbourne, Sydney and Tasmania.
Avi is an accomplished advocate and appears regularly in all jurisdictions.
In 2008, Jennifer graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Curtin University (WA) and commenced employment with a top tier law firm in the marketing department. She then relocated to Melbourne, returned to her studies and graduated from Victoria University with her Bachelor of Laws in 2012. During her studies she gained experience working within Legal Youth Centres, Legal Aid, a range of law firms and government departments.
Jennifer completed her Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at Leo Cussen in 2013 and was admitted as a Legal Practitioner in the Supreme Court of Victoria in August 2013.
Jennifer has previous experience in a range of property and commercial legal matters including finance, mortgage defaults and recovery proceedings, commercial leasing, complex property transactions, commercial agreements, Wills and estates administration, intellectual property, employment law and civil litigation. She now focuses primarily in criminal law, confiscation matters and crime related civil litigation.

Holly is a criminal defence lawyer with Furstenberg Law.
Holly was admitted to legal practice in August 2018 after completing her Bachelor of Laws at Victoria University and graduating with Honours. Her Honours thesis studied the operation of the Sex Offender Registration Act 2004 (Vic) and particularly its impact on low risk and youthful offenders. She feels strongly about the restrictive impact this legislation has on registered offenders.
Following this, Holly completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice with the College of Law.
Prior to admission, Holly worked as a paralegal for five years in law firms in Melbourne and regional Victoria. This enabled her to gain an extensive understanding and experience in criminal procedure.
Holly practises in both summary and indictable crime. She is particularly passionate about defending accuseds charged with sexual offences, but her attention to detail ensures all of her client’s matters are handled with great care and diligence. She is committed to approaching each case with professionalism, compassion and dedication.
Mark was admitted to practice in 2017 after completing a Bachelor of Laws at Victoria University. Following this, Mark completed a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at Leo Cussen. During his studies, Mark completed a semester at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany.
Mark is a criminal defence lawyer with Furstenberg Law. He practices in a wide variety of summary and indictable crime. He is an experienced advocate that appears regularly in the Magistrates’ Court and County Court of Victoria.
Mark prides himself on his thorough preparation, communication with clients, and his practical and realistic approach to matters.
Prior to being admitted to practice, Mark worked as a legal assistant in a number criminal law firms in Melbourne. This enabled Mark to develop an understanding of criminal procedure and the importance of effective communication with his clients.
Mark is committed to ensuring his clients understand the criminal law process so that they feel reassured and confident at all times during their matter.
Having worked in Real Estate and Customer Service for 20+ years, Katie comes to Furstenberg Law with a wealth of knowledge and experience across administration, team management, leadership, and dealing with c-suite executives on a global level and commercial business practices. She has run successful business operations in previous roles.
Katie is driven and passionate about helping small businesses find their feet and succeed. As our Practice Manager, this role allows her to help Furstenberg Law focus on the big picture while the team supports its clients to ensure that they get the best result.
Gabrielle Redmond joins Furstenberg Law as a Legal Administration Assistant to support our Criminal Law and Confiscations team.
Gabrielle graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours and Bachelor of Creative Industries from the Queensland University of Technology in 2016.
Prior to her admission, Gabrielle provided administrative assistance to a group of barristers in Brisbane for three years. This position taught her the importance of advocacy and exposed her to criminal, administrative and human rights law.
While completing a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice with the Queensland University of Technology, Gabrielle relocated to New York where she assisted with intellectual property matters in the music industry. In 2019, Gabrielle was admitted to Australian legal practice before commencing study for the New York Bar Exam, which she passed in February 2020.
Gabrielle is now based in Melbourne. Having acquired a depth of domestic and offshore legal knowledge and experience, Gabrielle envisages commencing legal practice in the near future.
